Project description

Reliable wireless connectivity is becoming essential for mission-critical applications across industries. From live events to industrial automation, even short communication failures can lead to major disruptions. Since 2024, Switzerland has opened spectrum for private 5G networks, enabling organizations to build secure, local infrastructures. Yet existing solutions are complex, expensive, and difficult to deploy—putting them out of reach for many potential users.
EZRA makes private mobile networks simple and accessible. By integrating all required components into a single compact device, setup becomes as easy as Wi-Fi while delivering carrier-grade reliability and ultra-low latency. Built on advanced RFSoC technology, EZRA is efficient, portable, and future-proof, upgradeable entirely through software updates. With support from First Ventures, the project will finalize the prototype, validate its performance under real-world conditions, and prepare for pilot deployments with SMEs and event service providers.

Status/Results

The project is structured in three phases. First, the embedded prototype will be completed by combining hardware and software into a compact and portable unit. In the second phase, the system will be validated through performance tests, focusing on latency, reliability and suitability for real-world use cases. In the final phase, the system will be documented and prepared for pilot deployments. With this approach, EZRA closes the gap between today’s costly, complex solutions and the needs of SMEs and event service providers, delivering a validated system that paves the way for pilot projects and a future spin-off.
