Project description

EduTab simplifies timetable planning for Swiss schools by combining digital data collection with automated timetable generation. Due to more part-time positions and the shortage of teachers, timetable planning is becoming increasingly complex. Today, many schools still work with fragmented processes across forms, Excel files and existing planning tools, which makes timetable creation time-consuming and error-prone. EduTab collects all relevant school data in one system, checks rules and constraints, and generates reliable timetables automatically. The project is innovative because it covers the full process from data collection to the finished timetable and is developed directly with pilot schools. The expected impact is faster planning, fewer errors and a more transparent process for schools.

Status/Results

The project starts in May 2026 within the First Ventures VALIDATE phase. The main goal is to test EduTab under real conditions with several pilot schools and validate the business model. During the project period, automated timetables are calculated for all pilot schools, evaluated together with the schools and improved directly through solver and software optimizations.
The project aims to demonstrate that EduTab can reduce manual workload, improve timetable quality and make the planning process more transparent. The results will be documented through pilot feedback and used to refine the platform, strengthen usability and prepare the commercial rollout.
Further partnerships with schools, municipalities and education-related organizations are being developed to support future integration and scaling. After the VALIDATE phase, the project aims to secure follow-up funding and expand EduTab to additional schools and regions.
