The project boxup aims to develop 3 autonomous lockers to allow the rental of sports and leisure objects on public spaces. The concept brings to the population a maximum of relevant activities without having to buy, store or carry the material. With a mobile application, the user can know the places, the activities and the availability of the objects that the lockers propose. He can then rent the items from his phone, use the locker to protect his belongings during his activity, bring back the item and get rewards on his profile. BoxUp aims to offer activities of social nature, to a large public, in the heart of green spaces close to urban areas. As a first objective we are planning to build the first 3 lockers and implement the concept on 3 differents fields of the swiss french-speaking area by spring 2019.
What is special about the project?
Boxup is the first project in switzerland to allow people to live differents experiences directly on stage, and without having to organize themself or to know the place. The application gives all the informations and do the link with the physical world to allow the users to spend a good time without constraints. This concept inspired by the sharing econcomy could improve and change the way we are doing activites in our city.
BoxUp is the stand-alone solution for outdoor activities. A locker connected to a mobile application allows the rental of sports and leisure items on public spaces such as sports fields and swimming pools. The concept provides the population with a maximum of relevant activities without having to purchase, store or transport the equipment.
This innovative and unique concept in Switzerland facilitates access to sport and allows spontaneous practice of an outdoor activity through a mobile application.
The first locker implemented is in Yverdon-les-Bains since end of june this year, and the mobile application available over the PlayStore and AppStore. This pilot project is allowing us to get feedback directly from the field and users in order to implement 50 lockers in the course of 2020 and bringing an industrial and scalable service over the national market.
