Project description

The most valuable asset in our modern world is no longer oil but data. The exchange of data in the human-machine and the machine-machine channels currently consumes around 9% of global energy with an impactful 20-30% annual growth. In addition, the deployment of datacentres, earth- and space-based communication networks and the Internet of Things (IoT) is rising, and their future energy footprint will significantly contribute to the global climate crisis.
Versics combines the best of two key communications technologies, pure electro-optic modulation from traditional lithium niobate devices and highly scalable fabrication runs from silicon photonics. Versics' innovative communication devices break the current speed limit in communication links and are plug & play.
The impact of Versics is on the telecommunications industry (a B2B business) and the implementation of 5G and 6G networks. As a result, the products from Versics can accommodate the data traffic growth in datacenters, long-haul communications, and satellite links while keeping the energy requirements sustainable.

Status/Results

Through the support of this InnoBooster project, Versics entered the telecommunication market through the segment of optical communication equipment. The InnoBooster programme also accelerated a market entry in the test & measurement segment by enabling the certification of its hardware devices. Furthermore, the company incorporation took place during the Innobooster program, and the team of Versics expanded. Versics executed two pilots with lead customers, thus increasing sales and revenue streams.
