Abstract
In today's demanding industrial world every second counts, and failure is not an option for critical infrastructures. Detecting anomalies in advance is key to make better maintenance plans and avoid major failures. Incidents and damages lead to unplanned downtime and higher costs of operation. But the problem today is that it is impossible to use standard sensors to monitor machines in extreme conditions, such as high temperatures, high electric fields or explosive environments. Electronics simply does not work. We solve this problem with photonic sensing solutions, intrinsically designed for these hostile environments.
Quelles sont les particularités de ce projet?
Unlike electronic sensors, photonic sensors rely on the generation and transmission of information through optical signals (i.e. photons, or in other words light!). For our photonic sensor to work, no electricity is needed at the measuring point. Compared to other latest-generation sensors on the market, our sensors are more sensitive, smaller, and intrinsically resistant to extreme environments. We also couple the sensors with machine learning algorithms that allow operational teams to analyze data and visualize alerts directly on an end-user interface.
Etat/résultats intermédiaires
Ultimately, the young spin-off company Miraex aims to become a leader in photonic solutions, targeting the aerospace, railway, and agritech industries as a priority, before expanding into wider application markets.
