Description du projet

Reliable wireless connectivity is a key requirement for mission-critical and real-time applications across multiple domains. While spectrum access for private 5G networks has been available in Switzerland since 2024, most existing solutions are designed for permanent, large-scale deployments and remain complex, costly, and difficult to operate for local or temporary use cases.
EZRA explores a compact, integrated system approach for private 5G networks designed for local, temporary, and real-time deployments. By reducing system complexity and simplifying operation, the project addresses scenarios where low latency, deterministic behaviour, portability, and fast setup are essential. Typical application areas include events, industrial environments, and security-related contexts, where existing private 5G solutions are often impractical.
During the VALIDATE phase, EZRA focuses on assessing technical feasibility, integrating hardware and software components, and performing basic functional validation. In parallel, relevant application contexts are evaluated to identify where an integrated private 5G system can provide tangible value and serve as a basis for pilot-oriented follow-up activities.

Etat/résultats intermédiaires

During the VALIDATE phase, the project concentrated on hardware and software integration and on evaluating the overall system approach. A first prototype was implemented that broadcasts a private 5G network and is detected by commercial end devices, confirming the fundamental feasibility of the concept.
In parallel, exchanges with potential users and industry partners provided feedback on integration effort, system boundaries, and deployment conditions. These discussions confirmed interest in compact and easy-to-operate private 5G solutions for local, temporary, and real-time applications.
Overall, the VALIDATE phase helped to sharpen EZRA’s technical and conceptual framework, reduce key uncertainties, and establish a solid basis for pilot-oriented follow-up activities and a potential continuation towards product development.
