Projektbeschreibung
The project explores the use of the video diary as an innovative educational tool to foster media literacy and transversal skills among students. It addresses the growing need for critical awareness in young people’s audiovisual production and online self-representation, often shaped by impulsive and unreflective digital practices. Through structured educational pathways integrated into school curricula, the project promotes conscious content creation, self-reflection, metacognitive learning, and collaborative storytelling. Its innovation lies in repositioning the video diary from a personal expressive practice to a scalable pedagogical methodology that combines audiovisual language, digital citizenship, and experiential learning. Implemented through workshops, teacher training, educational resources, and several collaborations, the project is expected to generate lasting educational impact by strengthening media competence, critical thinking, and students’ ability to navigate digital environments responsibly.
Stand/Resultate
The project is currently in its initial development phase, focused on strategic planning, partnership consolidation, and the design of educational content and implementation pathways. In the period leading up to the first interim report, activities will include the definition of pedagogical frameworks for the four video diary pathways, the development of multilingual teaching materials and digital resources, and the establishment of collaborations with schools, educational institutions, and expert partners in media literacy and audiovisual education. The project addresses a significant gap in current educational practice by introducing a structured methodology for critical audiovisual self-representation and reflective digital media use within formal learning environments. Initial implementation efforts are centered on resource development, teacher training design, and outreach to target schools across Ticino and Switzerland. Key partnerships are being strengthened with institutions that already cooperate with the Locarno Film Festival, while additional collaborations with academic and cultural organizations are under development. In the medium term, the project is designed for integration into the Locarno Film Festival’s long-term educational programming, ensuring continuity through institutional support, existing funding structures, and future co-financing opportunities with public and private educational stakeholders.
