Projektbeschreibung
The Swiss EdTech Collider is Switzerland’s independent national network for EdTech innovation. It brings together start-ups, educational institutions, researchers and other stakeholders to test, further develop and promote the meaningful use of digital education technologies in practice.
With the Swiss EdTech Collider SEC 2.0 strategic transformation phase, the Swiss EdTech Collider is further developing its role as a national platform for quality-oriented and evidence-based EdTech innovation. The aim is to strengthen collaboration between innovation, research and educational practice and to contribute to the effective and responsible use of digital technologies in education.
A central pillar in this project remains the successful Swiss National EdTech Testbed Program, launched in 2022. It enables public schools and teachers to test innovative EdTech solutions under real-world conditions and to further develop them together with the providers. The insights and experiences generated through these testbeds are systematically documented and shared with the wider education system.
The SEC 2.0 strategic transformation phase builds on these experiences and broadens the Swiss EdTech Collider’s focus. Alongside the continued development of the Testbed Program, the transformation focuses on developing quality and guidance instruments, strengthening the national network, and further developing the Swiss EdTech Collider as a sustainable institution. The goal is to establish a long-term foundation for an independent, non-profit infrastructure supporting evidence-based digital education innovation in Switzerland.
Stand/Resultate
The current presented project will build on the success of the Swiss National EdTech Testbed Program, which was officially launched in December 2022 with the support of the Gebert Rüf Stiftung and the Jacobs Foundation and is also supported by the Asuera Stiftung since 2025. Since its launch, the program has grown significantly and has become a well established initiative for the practical testing of EdTech solutions in Swiss public schools.
As of August 2026, 722 testbeds have been conducted, involving 389 schools, 672 teachers and 13,285 students across Switzerland. The strong growth in participation demonstrates both the relevance of the program and the continued demand from schools for opportunities to explore and evaluate innovative digital education technologies under real-world conditions.
The program has also generated a growing body of knowledge and resources for the wider education community. Five Good Practice Papers have been published to date, documenting experiences and insights from individual EdTech testbeds. In addition, the first Testbed Magazine was published, followed by a second edition in December 2025 focusing on AI in education, bringing together experiences, perspectives and emerging lessons from this rapidly evolving field.
With these results, the Testbed Program has developed from an initial pilot into a substantial national platform connecting EdTech innovation with educational practice. The current project phase is now transitioning from Phase II (2025–2026) into the new SEC 2.0 Strategic Transformation Phase. Building on the experience, network and evidence generated through the Testbed Program, SEC 2.0 broadens the focus towards the strategic and long-term development of the Swiss EdTech Collider as an independent, national infrastructure for quality-oriented and evidence-based EdTech innovation.
